wood, encrusted reddish brown patina, half-spherical calotte with crested forehead ridge and funnel-shaped protruding mouth, crowned by long slightly curved horns, pierced around the rim, slightly dam., paint rubbed off, cracks;
the Mama people are well-known for their abstract buffalo- and antelope masks. The present mask was worn at "kambon" masquerades of the "udawaru" society for sacrificial and burial rites.
